Ask for donations in lieu of gifts

If you have a special occasion coming up - a significant birthday, anniversary, wedding or Christening, you could make the occasion really special by asking friends and family for donations to Cecily's Fund instead of gifts. 

You can set up a Virginmoneygiving online sponsorship page and email friends and family directly to tell them your idea. Your friends' donations will come direct to Cecily's Fund and they can leave a message for you on the page.

Or you can ask them to buy you Cecily's Fund Gifts of Hope, or by sending a cheque to the address below and a note to explain what it is for.

Or you could celebrate your special occasion by doing something unusual and being sponsored for it... 

Run for the Fund... or get sponsored

We currently have guaranteed places available on the 2010 British London 10K Run, the 2011 London Marathon and Brighton Marathon. There are also many running events that you could enter as an individual or a corporate team. >>find out more

If you're not sporty, you can ask people to sponsor you for almost anything, as long as it's a bit of a challenge and a bit different!

 Put on a fundraising event

Turn your talent or hobby into a fundraising event, be it a musical evening, a cake stall, or a full on talent show. Yvonne (left) organises regular pumpkin soup lunches at her local church.

Do a parachute jump

Take on the challenge of a lifetime and do a jump for Cecily's Fund. Jumps can be organised at one of many clubs nationwide and take place throughout the year.

Do an adventure challenge in the UK or overseas

Cecily's Fund has teamed up with an events company to offer supporters the chance to participate in some challenges of a lifetime. Teacher Sarah Wilson did a sponsored cycle ride across Vietnam and raised over £3,000 - enough to send a thousand children to primary school for a whole year.

"I had an amazing time in vietnam... it was certainly a challenging, but rewarding experience and I'm glad I chose Cecily's Fund." Sarah

There are cycling, hiking and horse trekking challenges available, in a wide variety of locations. If you fancy walking the Inca Trail in Peru, trekking to Everest Base Camp in Nepal or cycling from London to Paris, then please contact us for more information. 

Online giving ideas

There are lots of safe and easy ways of raising money for Cecily's Fund's work on-line. For example:

• Do all your on-line shopping through Easyfundraising - once you've registered, a donation will be made to Cecily's Fund each time you buy at no extra cost to you.
• Buy our very own Gifts of Hope and 100% of your donation will be used help a Zambian orphan to go to school or college

• Sell unwanted goods through Ebay for charity

• Each time you search the internet through Everyclick a donation will be made to Cecily's Fund

• Set up your own fundraising page with Virginmoneygiving and ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you to do something amazing... or to come to a party, concert or other event you have organised.

• ...or simply make a direct online donation to Cecily's Fund
