What we do
American Friends of Cecily’s Fund supports education and AIDS awareness in Zambia. We currently do this working with Cecily’s Fund (UK) to run the following programmes;
• Education - Enabling more than 8,500 children anually who have been orphaned or made vulnerable due to AIDS to go to elementary and secondary school, with the same school materials as other children so they are not stigmatized by their situation. more...
• Health education - offering training to our school-leavers each year as peer health educators, teaching other children how to stay healthy and avoid HIV. more...
• Teacher training - offering our school-leavers finaincial support to train as teachers, which equips them for a secure, government paid job. This also helps replace some of the thousands of teachers lost to AIDS in Zambia and so enables the next generation of orphans to get an education. more...
For more detailed information about what we have acheived in the last year, please see our latest Annual Report.
