How you can help
Newsflash! SewNews Tote making challenge - sew a tote to help educate Zambian orphans >>more information
To help support the education of orphans and vulnerable children in Zambia you could:
Make a donation
Making a donation Every cent helps! It costs as little as $50 to send a child to elementary school for a whole year. If you set up a regular donation you can help to keep one or more children in school for many years. And each year that they are in school they become better equipped to survive in the outside world and avoid contracting HIV.
Take part in a sporting event or challenge!
Could you run a 10K run, half marathon or full marathon? How about taking part in a triathlon? There are hundreds events nationwide to suit all interests and abilities. Whatever you decide to do, you can set up an online sponsorship page at www.FirstGiving.com which will enable your family, friends and colleagues to support you and to raise money for American Firend's of Cecily's Fund. Please see the following links for ideas and inspiration or contact us for advice.

Your school can help
Fundraising events at schools can be fun and educational too! You could organise a sponsored event such as a walk or a run or have a 'skip a snack' day where students skip an unhealthy snack for a day and donate the cost of the item to us.
Alternatively, students could pay $2 each to come to school in wacky clothes or you could hold a concert and ask guests to make a donation at the end. The list is endless but whatever you do, we'd love to hear all about it. Good luck!
Organize a fundraising event
You can do this as an individual or you could team up with your school, place of worship or workplace to put on an event to raise money for Cecily's Fund. It could be a bake sale, a concert, a party, or an auction...
For examples of fundraising events by other AFCF supporters, see our News and Events page.

SewNews Tote making challenge:
SewNews is a magazine that has specialized in presenting sewing ideas, inspirations and techniques for 25 years. In their February/March 2010 edition they are teaming up with us to help raise money for our cause with "Operation Orphan Education". They're asking readers to create a reusable grocery tote bag to be auctioned at AFCF events and the money raised will go to help the children go to school.
