Our Supporters
People often tell us how impressed they are with the work that we do for the deprived children of Zambia. We could not do any of it without the help of our loyal, creative, energetic supporters all over the world.
Some are friends and members of the Eastwood family. Many are individuals who have been moved by the plight of the children to do something to help.
This is a space for us to give you news and highlights about some of them and what they are doing, or have already done, to support our work. We will update it regularly, but sadly, as much as we would love to, we could never hope to tell you about all of our many, many generous supporters around the world!
If you would like to find out about the sporting, sponsored and challenge events that people are currently taking part in or would like to support someone, please go to sponsor a friend.
If you or your school, church, university, company or other group would like to be featured here, please do let us know. We'd love to hear from you.

Peter Clifton
Peter Clifton, an old friend of the Eastwood family, has devised a unique and successful 'Poems in a Pub' formula; in the cosy surroundings of a pub, the evening begins with a long poem being read. Guests are then invited to read out their favourite poems, their own compositions and translations of a French poem which Peter sets in advance. Everyone votes, informally and good humouredly, on the best three poems and translations and Peter sends a home made certificate to the winners. Guest are invited to make a donation to Cecily's Fund. Peter has run several of these events around Oxfordshire, raising over £150 in an evening. If you'd like to run something similar, see our Fundraising Ideas page for Peter's secret recipe for a perfect Poems in a Pub evening.
Cynthia Gunn
In September 2007 Cynthia Gunn, a former teacher at the International School of Lausanne, walked the circumference of Lake Geneva, the second largest freshwater lake in Central Europe. This would be impressive enough for anyone, but Cynthia has suffered for many years with osteoarthritis. She embarked on the momentous sponsored hike after successful operations on her feet. Over twenty days, Cynthia covered 118 miles and raised £5,000 for Cecily’s Fund. Cecily’s Fund Chair, Basil Eastwood said “This is a truly remarkable achievement - a testament to Cynthia’s surgeons, as well as her own courage and resilience!”
The International School of Lausanne are also regular supporters in their own right.
Schools and colleges which support us
A number of schools, churches, universities, companies and other organisations are also giving us increasing support and help. Among the first of these were the schools Cecily and her sisters attended; Windlesham House School and Bedales.
Windlesham House School
Windlesham House School has supported Cecily's Fund since the very start. There was a large Windlesham presence at Cecily's funeral and teacher Richard Martin took part in the first Cecily Day in 1997 - and subsequently the school has been represented at most of those days since. They walked for the charity in its very first year and have done so on numerous occasions since. Richard Martin says of cecily "She was a delightful girl, still very fondly remembered by many current staff."
Bedales
Bedales school, and its sister school, Dunnanie have continued to keep Cecily's name alive - and to support fellow pupils in school sin Zambia - through concerts, walks, runs, prizes and a school reunion in aid of Cecily's Fund. Bedales’ St Cecilia day concert which is held each year in aid of Cecily’s Fund will hold a very special place in 2009, our Make Music Give Hope year, especially as St Cecilia is the patron saint of music.
Cokethorpe School
Cokethorpe is local to our office base in West Oxfordshire and have done a mass sponsored walk for us several years running.
Other schools and colleges which regularly support us include:
