Zoe Arthur Sponsor Zoe
Zoe went to school with Cecily Eastwood and this year she is running the Brighton Marathon for us. Zoe is getting married this summer and this is certainly a very good way to get fit for the big day! Good luck Zoe.
Jenni Regan Sponsor Jenni
Jenni is taking part in the British London 10K run in July to raise funds for Cecily's Fund. We still have places available for this event, including corporate teams (6 runners). It is always a fun event for runners and spectators alike. If you would like a place, find out more on our runs page.
Eugene
Wojciechowski Sponsor Eugene
Eugene is running the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday 21st March. This popular half marathon is 21K (or 13.1 miles) and finishes in the
Madejski Stadium, home of Reading Football Club. Best of luck Eugene!
Sabita Banerji - A £ for a lb Sponsor Sabita
My New Year's Resolution is to lose the stone that I put on over the last year, by 1st April 2010 and I'm inviting people to sponsor me a pound (or more!) for every pound I lose. This is also my way of kicking off our fundraising theme for 2010 which is 'Feed their Minds, Fund their Futures' - I hope others will be inspired to find food-related ways to raise funds for Cecily's Fund... like cake sales, mystery dinner parties, picnics or competitions to eat bake beans with a toothpick.

Jane Carnaghan and Jane Chandler Sponsor a Jane!
Jane Carnaghan and Jane Chandler are both teachers at Roedean school. Roedean supported Cecily's Fund with their 'Roedean's Got Talent'; show, judged by none other than Piers Morgan himself. In April 2010 they will be running the Brighton Marathon for Cecily's Fund. They have already started their training and hope to raise £3,000 for Cecily's Fund.
Good luck!
Nick Moglia Sponsor Nick
Nick is our Silver Bond runner in the Virgin London Marathon.
Here's his story:
I had always run on and off, and even ran 3 marathons in the early 1980’s (Manchester, Bolton and Leeds) when I was a lot younger and fitter, though would certainly not claim to have been a runner in those days. I now average over 1,000 miles per year and have competed in approximately twenty-five 10k races, and in a couple of half-marathons. My best time for the 10k distance is 39:47at Eynsham in November 2008, and for a half-marathon is 1:30:38 at Bath in March 2008. Since I took up running again, a small part of me has wondered how I would fair in another marathon, though this was always outweighed by the fact that I knew it would involve a significant increase in my training commitment.
When I was asked by a friend, Julie Grime (Fundraising Support Officer at Cecily’s Fund) whether I would consider running the London Marathon for Cecily’s Fund, I have to admit to knowing very little about the charity. From what I now know, this is an extremely worthwhile cause and one which deserves a special effort, which is exactly what I will be giving it.

Sarah Wilson Sponsor Sarah
Sarah is taking part in an Adventure Challenge. As the name suggests, it is a physically challenging cycling adventure from the very North to the very South of Vietnam passing mountains, rice paddies and beaches. Over 8 days the group will cycle over 650km. Good luck Sarah!

Dan Quy Sponsor Dan
Dan ran thee events in aid of Cecily's Fund last year and, to celebrate his 30th Birthday, he decided to take part in 'Tough Guy' in January 2010.
Tough Guy advertises itself as "the toughest test of strength and endurance on Earth!" The challenge consists of an 8-country mile run, followed by an assault course known as The Killing Fields. This has 22 obstacles to overcome, including running over fire, the icey underwater tunnels and running through a maze of electrified wires. Dan, you are one tough superhero!
Veronica Oakeshott Sponsor Veronica
Veronica (also a Cecily's Fund Trustee) has set herself a personal, financial challenge to celebrate her 30th Birthday week. Her 'spend a tenner' week starts on day one with just £10 in her purse which has to last all week. The £10 has to cover food and discretionary expenditure, like newspapers, drinks etc. There are lots of activities planned for the free week. Art galleries, films, pancake night, a clothes and books swap evening...etc. Veronica says "having a birthday week with no fancy expenditures will seem all the more worthwhile if I can raise some money for Cecily's Fund! I am hoping that the group will raise £2000 - enough to send 80 children to school for year." Another interesting comparison is that it costs Cecily's Fund about £10 to provide a simple but nutritious daily meal for a child at Bwafwano Community School for a whole year. Good luck Veronica!
Melissa Marquardt Sponsor Missy
On 25th October, Missy Marquardt is running 21km in the Lausanne Marathon to raise money for Cecily's Fund. Missy's children traveled to Zambia and met some of the children being supported by Cecily's Fund. They were moved by the children's spirit in the face of hardship and hunger and the family have been committed supporters ever since.
Missy's employer, Signet Research & Advisory, has generously agreed to match the funds she raises, doubling the amount you give. Good luck Missy and thank you Signet!

Setting up your own sponsorship page
Cecily's Fund has signed up with virginmoneygiving.com and justgiving.com. You can choose which website you'd like to use to collect sponsorship online but the main differences are:
virginmoneygiving.com is changing the face of online
fundraising with a better deal for fundraisers and
charities. It is 100% not-for-profit which means Cecily's Fund receives more. Virginmoneygiving.com is new and they currently do not accept donations through PayPal.

justgiving.com is still the industry standard but the admin fees charged to the charity, especially for claiming Gift Aid are much higher, meaning that Cecily's Fund receives a little bit less than if using virginmoneygiving.com. Donations can be made through PayPal.

Whichever website you decide to use to do your online fundraising, just let us know if you need a hand setting up your page. Additionally, if you have any feedback, positive or negative, about the service provided from either site, please let us know.
Thank you for your support
