Looking ahead
Cecily's Fund is responding to a need in Zambia that will continue to grow. We hope to grow with it. Even though the rates of new infection may be levelling off, the number of orphans will go on rising for the next eight to ten years. The orphans we are supporting today, and those that we support in the years to come, are a window of hope in the AIDS crisis. It is crucial that they are given the best chance to stay HIV-free. It is crucial that they have access to education.
Cecily's Fund has a commitment to the children we support - we don't just help them for one or two years, but throughout their school education, if they need it. We therefore have financial and moral commitments stretching several years into the future.
In order to honour our commitments we have to work hard at fundraising. We have a rolling 3-year business plan which sets out our expected expenditure and how we hope to meet it. We also have a reserves policy which ensures that if things are difficult in the short-term none of the children we support will have to be pulled out of school.
We look ahead to a period of organic financial growth, matched by continued organisational development so we can continue to deliver accountability to our donors and support to orphans to our current high standards. |
