Iceland Trek

New dates for 2008!

23rd August - 31st August 2008

Cecily's Fund are looking for adventurous supporters to trek in Iceland, through some stunning Icelandic landscapes. During this nine-day trip you will see some of the world's most spectacular wilderness areas, with a mix of wild volcanic landscape, steaming lava fields, icecaps, waterfalls and much more. Not only will you camp in beautiful surroundings, but you'll also have the chance to relax in hot springs and soak your aches away!

We wouldn't take you to the doorstep of the world's most northerly capital city without giving you a chance to explore! Reykjavik was founded in 874 by a Norwegian Viking called Ingólfur Arnarson who named the place Reykjavik (smokey bay) after the steam rising from the hot springs. You will have a whole day free to discover its amazing history or its cafes!

You don't need to be an athlete to do this trek, although some training is certainly advisable before undertaking the challenge (a training plan is provided).

Some people take part with friends or family, but most people come on their own. It will be a great way to make new friends and raise money for Cecily's Fund!

What does it cost?

All you will have to pay is a £299 registration fee. We will pay for the rest on the basis that you raise a minimum of £2,950 in sponsorship. It sounds like a lot (and it is a lot in Zambia) but you will find that it is perfectly possible. In fact most people end up raising more! We will ensure you have the help and advice you need to reach your fundraising target. Of the £2,950 you raise, £1,770 will go to Cecily's Fund (i.e. 60%), as will every penny that you raise above the target. Your trip will raise enough for us to train two orphans as school teachers, giving them a career for life.

What does the cost include?

The cost includes flights, internal travel, accomodation, meals, water, refreshments, support vehicles to carry your luggage, guides, a doctor and medical support. In short, everything you need for a safe and incredible 9 days.

Sounds amazing! How do I join?

Email us or call us on 01993 898055 to request a free information pack with the full itinerary and an application form. Places are limited so the sooner we hear from you the more likely you are to get a place!
