Cuban Bike Ride

Contact us for dates!

In 2007, three Cecily's Fund supporters took part in this new trip and came back thoroughly recommending it! You can read their trip diary here, and find out more about what this cycling tour is really like.

We are now looking for more people to take on this really worthwhile challenge. Do you fancy escaping the onset of the British winter and exchanging it for a week on two wheels in the Cuban sunshine instead?

This is a fantastic fundraising cycle through a varied landscape of coffee, banana, papaya and tobacco plantations, waterfalls, spa towns, paddy fields, beaches and crystal-clear sea. There will be the opportunity to soak up some of Cuba's fascinating culture and history, including a visit to one of Che Guevara's hideouts.

You'll cover between 60 and 90km a day by bike for 5 days, over fairly hilly terrain, but there will also be time to relax. The adventure finishes with a well-deserved trip out to Cayo Levisa where you will stay in an island beach hut. There will also be time to explore Havana, do some shopping and experience its night life before you leave.

All kinds of people will be taking part in this Cuban adventure, and you don't need to be Tour de France standard to sign up. It will be challenging, but training guidelines will be provided to help you make the most of your experience. Some people take part with friends or family but most are on their own, so it is a great chance to meet some interesting people who are, like you, also doing something amazing to support a good cause.

How much does it cost?

(Prices shown are for 2007. For 2008 prices please contact us.)

All you will have to pay is a £399 registration fee. We will cover the rest providing you raise a minimum of £2,750 sponsorship. Please don't be put off by this! Although it sounds like a large amount (and it is in Zambia), there are many ways to fundraise and we will be happy to give you as much support and advice as you need. It's easier than you think once you get started and, in fact, most people usually end up raising more than the minimum.

Of the £2,750 you raise, £1,100 covers the costs of the trip while £1,650 (plus anything you raise over the minimum sponsorship level) will go to Cecily's Fund. This is enough to pay for the education of 27 secondary school children in Zambia for a whole year!

What does the cost include?

The cost includes flights, internal travel, accommodation (which will be in hotels), almost all meals, water, refreshments, support vehicles to carry your luggage, guides, a doctor and medical support. In short, everything you need for a safe and incredible 10 days.

Sounds amazing! How do I join?

Email us or call us on 01993 869005 to request a free information pack with the full itinerary and an application form. Places are limited so the sooner we hear from you the more likely you are to get a place!
